Meet The Team - Sinead Watson - Head of Clinical & Regulatory

Tell us about yourself

My name is Sinead Watson, and I joined Neurovalens in September 2022. My role at Neurovalens is Head of Clinical & Regulatory that involves leading the clinical team in the planning, execution and delivery of several clinical trials and regulatory submissions.  At school my main interest was nutrition and how it is connected to health, as such I decided to complete an undergraduate degree in Food and Nutrition at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB). Due to my passion for learning and acquiring new knowledge in health, I decided to stay at QUB to study a MSc in Public Health. A large proportion of the MSc was research based, which prompted the decision to undertake a PhD and ultimately a career in health-related research.

What attracted you to join the Neurovalens team?

Prior to joining Neurovalens I was a Research Fellow working within the academic setting. I reached a point in my career journey that I wanted a change and a new challenge, so I decided to look for research opportunities in industry. I first heard about Neurovalens at a careers event, which initiated an interest in the company. I was very impressed with the neurostimulation technology and the difference it is making to people’s lives. The company’s growth and how it had been establishing itself as a leader in the field was also very inspiring.

What motivates you in your work?

Working for a company that develops non-invasive technology that has a positive impact on people’s health and quality of life is very motivating. It is also very rewarding working for a start-up company that you can watch grow and evolve and are actively contributing to its success. Recently, Neurovalens reached an important milestone of obtaining their first FDA approval. Leading the clinical team through this rigorous approval process with a successful outcome is very fulfilling. Another important motivator is the positive teamwork environment that Neurovalens fosters, where there is open communication, collaboration, and continuous learning. Working with my passionate and talented colleagues daily inspires me and encourages me to do better.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work

Most of my free time is spent running trails, attending the gym, and reading.
